Where is grown?
Apple tree "Renet Semerenko" has low rates of frost, so growers of this variety are engaged in growers in areas with a temperate climate. This variety is grown in Ukraine and in the Southern Federal District in Russia (Rostov Region, Krasnodar Territory, Chechnya, Ingushetia, Astrakhan Region, North Ossetia, Dagestan).
Semerenko apple trees can be grown in central Russia, but in this case it is necessary to carry out measures that will prevent the trees from freezing in the winter.
Planting and care
Young saplings can be planted in spring (before buds bloom) or in autumn, when foliage will completely fall off the trees. A pit for planting trees is prepared in advance, that is, 6–12 months, and it is necessary to take into account the fact that the landing area should be well lit in the summer. The diameter of the hole should vary from 1 to 1.5 meters, and the depth should be about 90 cm. Drainage should be laid at the bottom of the pit. Peat mixed with humus is poured as a top dressing. Then add fertile soil to fill ½ hole.
If you use sandy soil, you must put clay on the bottom and cover it with plant waste (thickness should be no more than 15 cm). Next, put a young tree with a support structure, then covered with soil. In perfect condition, a small hill should form above the ground, which needs to be tamped and watered with 30-40 liters of liquid.
Since the Semerenko apple trees are a capricious variety, it means that they will need certain care.
Watering activities
This variety of apple trees does not require a large amount of moisture, so for the whole season it is enough to water the seedlings 3-4 times. The volume of water for irrigation is calculated according to the principle: how many years an apple tree, how many buckets with liquid will be required for single irrigation. The first watering should be carried out in early June, the second - at the time of ripening, and the third - before the onset of frost.
Fertilization
In the spring, when the buds have not yet blossomed, it is necessary to add fertilizer to the soil, containing nitrogen in its composition. Such products include urea, calcium or sodium nitrate. If an excessive amount of nitrogen is introduced into the soil, then there is a risk of ruining the root system of the tree, so the ratio of water and substance should be strictly observed when preparing the solution. Experts recommend spraying plants in the spring with specialized preparations that incorporate copper.
Thus, it is possible to prevent the attack of harmful insects and microorganisms. In the summer, you need to make fertilizers containing phosphorus, and also carry out mulching around the trunk by means of peat, compost and humus.
In the autumn, before the onset of frosts, the plant is fed with potash fertilizers, which will greatly facilitate the wintering of trees.
Pruning
These activities are carried out in the summer. In this case, you need to cut dry, broken, diseased branches and shoots. In the event that a large number of ovaries have formed on the tree, they must be removed (about half), thus, the rationing of the crop is made, where the fruits will be large. Pruning is necessary so that the crown of the tree is lit evenly, and you can also avoid the appearance of various diseases. Because, or properly cut the plant will depend on further yield.
Winter Preparations
Since the plant is exposed to diseases such as scab and powdery mildew, in the fall it is necessary to carefully clean and burn all the fallen leaves and twigs that are on the ground. After all, it is in the waste that the fungus can hide, and with the onset of heat, it will begin to actively develop, gradually moving to all plants. But if you could not avoid the appearance of such diseases, then you should not despair ahead of time. Today there is a wide range of specialized tools that can cure a tree from such harmful microorganisms. It is enough only a certain number of times to spray the plant with such drugs as "Euparin" and "Polycarbacin".
A variety of apple "Semerenko" reacts poorly to a negative temperature. Therefore, growing apples in harsh climatic conditions, it is necessary to take measures that facilitate the wintering of the plant. Before the onset of severe frost need to cover the trees with special materials. Apple bark is a favorite hare delicacy.
To avoid such attacks, you should treat the stems with lime and wrap sacking.
