Grapes "Nikopol Beauty": advantages and rules of cultivation
Many winegrowers pay attention to the very early grape variety “Kras Nikopol”, which is unpretentious, high-yielding and has harmonious taste qualities. It is also possible to attribute to his advantages that his fruit bearing is considered very early.Still, it takes only 105 days to fully ripen this table variety.
Variety description
This grape variety was developed not long ago, its author is Alexei Stepanovich Sedun, resident of Nikopol, Dnipropetrovsk region. Not being a professional breeder, he, on an amateur basis in the 50s of the 20th century, made the crossing of the Rish Baba Chernaya and Pearl Saba grape varieties, as a result of which Krasav Nikopol appeared. The grapevine of this variety takes root quite well in the middle and southern parts of Russia. She is characterized by quite active growth. Abundant flowering, flowers bisexual with the possibility of self-pollination.
Grape clusters are cylindrical or conical, with oval-shaped fruits, the weight of an average cluster varies from half to a kilogram. The average weight of each berry is 5 grams. The berries are oval, evenly painted in a dark pink shade. They are about 2 cm long, a little less - in width.
In the process of aging darken to almost black. The density of the fruit in the brush is average. The berry itself is friable, has a high content of sugar and a slight sour taste. The variety is considered to be nutmeg.
The fruit is covered with a thin, almost imperceptible skin. The aging time is 105 days. In the middle lane, the first crop is harvested at the end of July.
Many amateur agronomists, giving a description of the variety, mention a rather high fruitfulness from each vine (more than 70% of the vines produce crops). Another factor that is considered a plus for the “Beauty of Nikopol” is that even if the grapes have outgrown, it does not turn into raisins on clusters, but continues to retain its appearance.
Many gardeners show that the variety tolerates frosts well to -22 ° C, maintaining its fecundity even when other grape varieties do not yield crops. Although, regardless of this, he still requires sheltering for the winter. Reproduction of varieties produced by cuttings. A sapling of two years old is already capable of producing a good harvest.
As for the characteristic diseases of the variety, they are few. There is a rather low resistance to mildew, gray rot and oidium. This problem is quite easily solved by timely treatment of the plant from pests with fungicides. This is done several times in each season. As for other diseases, Krasa Nikopol has high resistance to this disease, which is characteristic of other grape varieties, like powdery mildew.
Advantages of the variety:
- early germination;
- high yield;
- no drying in peas and raisins;
- high transportability;
- good survival rate on most soil types;
- due to early germination, the plant is less or not damaged at all by wasps;
- resistance to low temperatures, preservation of yield, even after relatively severe frosts;
- immunity to flour dew disease.
Varieties of variety:
- requires care;
- relatively weak immunity to mildew diseases, gray rot and oidium.

Landing
Like the planting of any other grapes, everything begins with the preparation of the place of the future life of a perennial plant. A few months before planting, the earth is fertilized with potash salt and a mixture of peat, manure and lime. At the bottom of the hole, where the vine will be planted in the future, a layer of gravel up to 10 cm thick is laid. This is done so that excessive moisture leaves the soil under the vine.
The place for planting is sunny: this variety does not like shade. It is advisable to choose a place protected from cold and strong winds. Ideally, the site is located near the wall of a building: during the day, the wall heats up, and at night it gives off its heat, thereby heating the grapes.
In the hole must be put stubborn strap, so that the cuttings of the vine did not subside. After planting, watering must be done with water with a weak solution of manganese. This will protect the roots from rotting.On top of the ground, which is covered with a seedling, some gardeners recommend laying a layer of sawdust. This gives the earth protection from drying out. As for the seedlings themselves, they are quenched for a decade before planting.
The landing itself is carried out at the end of autumn or in early spring. So the plant has more chances to survive. It is necessary to take into account the nuance: from the last days of April to the second half of May, cuttings are made with an already stiff trunk, and then until the end of June only green, young cuttings are planted. Autumn planting dates are made from the beginning of October until the first frost.
Some observations from amateur agronomists help determine whether a grape seedling is good or already spoiled.
- When a root cut of a stiff seedling is performed, it should be white. If the cut is brown, then there will be no more sense from this plant.
- The green seedling has a light green cut, without brown and black inclusions.
- A good seedling has dense buds that are not showered by a light touch.
Care and reviews
The variety needs care. This applies as pruning twice a year (autumn and spring), and good shelter vines for the winter.
- In the autumn, after the last harvest, all the branches that have not borne fruit and are damaged are removed from the vine. Following the vine is removed from the stops. Top dressing is added to the soil under the vine. The vine itself is treated with a solution of copper sulfate. This is done so that it does not start to rot. Then the plant itself is covered with sacking, straw or slate.
You should not sprinkle it with turf and leaves, it can partly start to rot, especially with its eyes.
- In the spring it is necessary to unwind the vine, inspect it for damage, remove all damaged and frost-bitten parts and place it again on the stops. When pruning, it should be borne in mind that fewer eyes (renal sites) should be left on thin vines than on thick ones. The optimal amount for thick vine is 30-35 buds.
Many professionals and amateurs who breed the Krasa Nikopol fruit grape variety note that this is probably the best variety of fast ripening. It is weakly prone to disease, and those to which it is prone are perfectly exterminated by timely and high-quality processing. Enough unpretentious to the types of soil, frost. Of course, it requires a certain care in the form of fertilizing and trimming, but its fecundity perfectly compensates for this work.
There is also a high transportable possibility of plant brushes. They, even having a thin skin, practically do not crumple during transportation. It is also noted that the fruits of this grape variety do not crack after the rains, from the heat, do not dry out in the state of raisins and do not dry out into peas from overgrowing. In other words, always keep their neat look.
