The use of chemicals in the fight against pests and diseases of grapes, of course, an extreme measure. But it often happens that the usual measures, such as: pruning, removal of exfoliated bark, thinning of bunches, removal of young plants, frequent cleaning of dry leaves and fallen berries do not bring any result. As a result, the bush is affected. Just in this case, pollination with potent substances is important.

Preparations for the processing of grapes can be divided into two groups: fungicides and insecticides. The latter are good in the fight against pests, and the action of fungicides (from the Latin. "Fungus" - a mushroom and "caedo" - to kill) is aimed at the destruction of pathogenic flora, preventing normal growth and development of the plant.

What happens when using fungicides?

• respiratory function of fungi is disturbed;
• fungal cell nuclei lose their ability to divide (systemic fungicides);
• nucleic acid formation is blocked in the cells of the fungus;
• at the cellular level, ergosterol ceases to be produced, due to which the colony of fungi perishes permanently.

One of the relatively new drugs fungicidal group can be called inorganic fungicide "Thiovit Jet". In addition to the basic properties of fungicides, this remedy for plants has the properties of acaricides, that is, it simultaneously fights against parasites (mites). The drug is made on the basis of sulfur (1 kg of the product contains 800 g of sulfur), has the form of granules, which dissolve in water.

The resulting solution fits well on the leaves and in dry and sunny weather retains its healing properties for up to 10 days. Tiovit Jet is a fungicide of contact action. It does not penetrate the cells of the plant, but works on its surface. A thin film of this drug envelops the affected areas of the fruit and leaves, causing the death of fungal invasions and some types of ticks.

The intensive period of development of fungal diseases is the end of spring or the beginning of summer. It is at this time that the air temperature rises to 25-29 Cº, and the humidity reaches 70-80%. Under such conditions, sulfur toxicity, the main constituent of Tiovit Jet, increases. Accordingly, the first spraying is carried out in late May - early June. Treatment efficiency will be higher if applied directly to the affected areas of the leaves.

At a temperature of +18 Cº, spores of oidium under the influence of sulfur die after 26-30 hours, at +19 Cº - in a day, at + 25-29 Cº - in 4-7 hours. Before treating the vines, decide what kind of damage you need to work with. The dosage of the pure drug in solution depends on it. To get rid of oidium, for example, it will be necessary to dilute 80 g per 10 liters of water, to deal with grape mite - 40 g, and to get rid of powdery mildew - 50 g per same volume of water. To obtain a homogeneous Tiovit Jet solution, it is necessary to dissolve the granules, first in a small amount of water, and then, stirring constantly, add water to the required volume. It is necessary to apply the resulting emulsion immediately, since it is not possible to store the drug in diluted form.

You can not use "Tiovit Jet" for 14 days after treatment of the bushes with products containing any oil. Oily products can not be used for 2 weeks after spraying the vineyard "Tiovit Jet". One medium-sized bush consumes from 2 liters to 3 liters of solution, on a larger bush - 5 liters. Spray vineyards in the morning or evening, when there are windless days.The leaves, stems and fruits of the plant must be dry.

Tiovit Jet is a chemical drug, therefore it is not allowed to use it without chemical protection. All open areas of the body should be closed. It is recommended to work in rubber boots, overalls, rubber gloves and a respirator.

This substance is considered to be non-toxic and belongs to hazard class 3, but it should be remembered that if a sulfur-containing substance gets on the skin of the hands and face, it can cause both mild allergic reactions and eczema, and if it enters the respiratory organs - irritation of the mucous membrane and pulmonary edema . Therefore, special care should be taken when working with Tiovit Jet. But if contact with a certain amount of substance still occurred, you should quickly wash the affected skin with running water.

When preparing the treatment solution, do not mix it with other chemicals to avoid an uncontrolled chemical reaction.
