Breastfeeding rice: effects on the body and contraindications

Breastfeeding rice: effects on the body and contraindications

Rice is one of the most sought-after foods on the planet, and lovers of healthy eating are surely aware of all its benefits and multilateral utility. In this case, a conscious nursing mother should also be aware that when breastfeeding you can eat far from all the usual foods.

The fact is that the components of mom's diet get into breast milk, and through it - into the body of a newborn, who at the present stage of his life path is prone to exhibit an allergic reaction to the most unexpected things. For this reason, rice porridge young mothers should be used with great caution.

    How to use and why?

We hurry to please those for whom this product is a favorite: if there are no specific contraindications, the use of rice cereal is permitted almost from the birth of a child. At the same time, the product can still cause him allergies, because, as is the case with any other types of food, it is worth starting with a tiny portion - a tablespoon will suffice for the first time. After that, you should carefully monitor the condition of the baby for allergic reactions or digestive disorders, and if nothing strange is found, then the portion can be gradually increased up to 150 grams.

At the same time, it should once again be reminded that the mom's diet should be balanced and varied, therefore, you should not go on a rice diet or even simply eat rice, otherwise the child will show a typical effect from abuse of this product - constipation.

In general, rice is not only allowed, but even recommended for use during this period, because in the absence of problems, he is able to bring many benefits.

    • Allergy to gluten it is quite common even in adults, and in newborns it is very typical, because wheat products in the first months of life are undesirable for the babies themselves and for their mothers. At the same time, cereal-based food is typical for a modern person, so the question arises as to how to replace wheat. In terms of the benefits it brings, rice most closely resembles it, and in principle it does not contain gluten, and therefore the probability of allergy is minimized.
    • Rice cereal is quite rich in carbohydrates, so necessary for the normal functioning of the organisms of the mother and child. You should not abuse the product, because you can gain extra pounds, but the periodic use will only benefit, providing the mother and her baby with necessary vital energy.
    • Rice is very useful as food that helps cleanse the body of toxins. In the gastrointestinal tract, it acts like a sorbent. At the same time, this dish also has another property that is useful for digestion: due to its fastening effect, it helps prevent or even stop diarrhea, which occurs quite often in babies. Here, of course, one should not exceed the allowable rate of daily rice consumption, otherwise the opposite extreme cannot be avoided.
    • Cereal contains enough vitamins of group B, one of the most important functions of which is the normalization of the nervous system. In the case of an adult, such food makes it easier to relive stress and depression, and in fact the mother is constantly subjected to a certain mental load, but this component is also useful for the baby: it will help build his nervous system. Among other things, the same substances are also responsible for external beauty and attractiveness, helping to restore hair and skin, and yet every woman wants to be beautiful.
    • Judging by the reviews of some young mothers, milk-based rice porridge allows for increased lactation, which is naturally a plus for a child. This fact has not been proven from a scientific point of view, and no one argues that this effect applies to everyone without exception, but it’s easy to try this method of increasing the amount of breast milk with its constant lack.
    • Especially useful for the body of any person, including nursing mother, brown rice. The fact is that its shell contains an increased amount of various beneficial substances, including potassium and iron, phosphorus and zinc, amino acids and vitamins. All these substances are extremely useful for various body systems, in particular, their abundance has a positive effect on the cardiovascular system, and after all, a woman after pregnancy is in dire need of everything useful, since her body is depleted. Of course, all these components eventually end up in the composition of breast milk, benefiting not only the mother, but also her baby.
    • Rice is at the same time very caloric (up to 350 kcal) and as satisfying as thanks to which its use for a young mother is very appropriate. It is rather difficult to gain extra weight due to this product: although its energy value is high, you simply cannot eat much of it. At the same time, the ability of rice to saturate the body for a long time provides a woman with an excellent service: she doesn’t feel hunger for a long time, which means she can actively engage her child.

    Possible limitations

There is no such product on earth that could be consumed by one and all without any restrictions, and in the case of young mothers and their newborns, the number of restrictions only increases. It has already been said about the possible negative phenomena that a child can demonstrate as a result of a woman using rice, but there are also situations where eating rice cereal is a priori undesirable even before you have tried it.

Such moments should be studied in advance so that they do not lead to extremely unpleasant surprises.

      • Rice, as you know, fastens, and therefore its use is already limited in some situations. Theoretically, the baby’s body can respond to constipation when rice enters the mother’s diet, but this is a hypothetical moment, and there are situations where rice is directly contraindicated for the mother. So, if she had problems like constipation and were observed earlier, the cereal should be temporarily abandoned, so as not to aggravate. If the woman also gave birth through caesarean section, that is, she recently underwent abdominal surgery, then possible constipation presents a huge risk in the form of a potential seam divergence. In such a situation, even in the absence of problems with digestion, it is advised to abandon the use of rice until the moment of complete healing.
      • With a relatively small consumption of rice cereal gaining weight is difficult, but this applies only to those people whose metabolism works correctly. If the mother herself or her child clearly went beyond the weight norm, rice should be abandoned for the time being - perhaps it is he who gives this effect. This statement is relevant even if a woman has never had problems with a figure before pregnancy. Rejection of rice at this stage will allow it to return to its usual form more quickly. Refusing from cereals, more attention should be paid to those products in which the carbohydrate content is relatively small, although it is impossible to completely abandon them.
      • For a child, digestive problems are a fairly typical problem but they are more often expressed as diarrhea, rather than constipation. Permanent constipation may indicate that there are too many fixing foods in mom's diet, which affects the health of the child. It’s still not a fact that the matter is in rice porridge, but it is she who most often provokes such an effect.
      • Gastric and intestinal colic, especially in a situation where their appearance is typical, they usually appear not because of rice cereal in my mother's diet, but it can aggravate this phenomenon. In this situation, you should immediately consult a doctor and eliminate rice from the diet.

At the same time, most of the situations described are temporary, and the fact that some of the above fully fit your situation does not mean that rice will have to be abandoned forever.

In most cases, the child's body in the first months of life adapts to the food that is offered to him, and over time the baby goes over to normal nutrition, refusing milk and removing any restrictions on the menu from the mother.

      Special features

As is often the case, even in the absence of contraindications, any product should be consumed correctly, otherwise certain complications are possible. For example, even the choice of rice can affect the situation.

If you want the product to bring maximum benefit to both mother and baby, look for an unprocessed brown variety and don’t spare money for it: it is much more beneficial than the usual white variety.

Some mothers, seeking to quickly restore their own harmony, refuse to rice at all, than they can cause some harm to the child and themselves. You should not be afraid of extra calories, because there is a way to significantly reduce their number. For this, boiled rice should be simply frozen. In the thawed form, porridge will be practically the same as usual: the taste, smell, and even a set of useful elements will be completely the same. Only starch, which collapses in the cold, will suffer badly, and it is this substance that provides rice with high caloric content. As a result, the energy value will be halved.

Remember that the abundance of fat or spices in rice porridge, turned into pilaf, will negatively affect milk. Perhaps the child will not even drink it or retire them.
