 What is fodder wheat and how does it differ from food?

What is wheat, everyone knows. However, this widespread cereal is divided into several groups according to the degree of quality.Not all of them are even acceptable for human nutrition.

Special features

Let's find out what is fodder wheat, fodder in general and how fodder wheat differs from the food variety. Cornmeal can be obtained from all grains, but the general fact is that it cannot be used to feed people. The chemical composition of fodder is extremely useful for livestock. The composition of the product contains a lot of carbohydrates, but the concentration of fatty substances, protein components and fiber is reduced.

Forage is a subtype of wheat grain that has a maximum moisture content of 15%. A decrease in the concentration of coarse fibers and proteins leads to a decrease in humidity. All wheat is divided into 6 classes. For fodder grain is applied in 5 and 6 categories. 1 - 4 discharges are intended for feeding people, that is, they are food. The variety of varieties and types of grains related to feed grains is not limited - this is expressly stated in international standards.

Basic product requirements

So that wheat can be used as fodder, it is not enough that it corresponds to the 6th or 5th class. You also need to:

  • the grain was holistic;
  • there were no odors;
  • there were no harmful insects that could damage livestock and poultry.

Strict requirements are imposed on the following properties:

  • humidity;
  • mass proportions and characteristics of proteins;
  • coloring;
  • gluten content;
  • extraneous impurities.

The regulations governing the quality of feed wheat are available both internationally and nationally. Therefore, one should be guided by the provisions that are adequate for a particular territory.

The difference between individual types of agricultural feed due to the varying volume of pulp. Its share is directly related to the size of those individuals who will receive this food. Horses and cattle are given maximum feed with cellulose.

Shelf life is determined by the quality of drying. The less moisture in the product, the more pure carbohydrates. This is especially important when the cold season comes. But it is not enough to take into account these moments, you have to think about the hardness of the grains. The softest wheat is suitable for very small birds and animals. Horses and cows should be given a harder product!

What is bad and good fodder wheat?

As for the weakness of fodder wheat varieties, it should be noted:

  • increased amount of starch;
  • lack of fat, fiber and sugar;
  • excessive carbohydrate content.

Too much starch in the diet is harmful not only to people, but also to animals. They may also suffer from digestive problems.

Since there are a lot of carbohydrates, the balance of nutrients is disturbed and the threat of obesity arises. A fiber deficiency threatens with indigestion and poor wheat absorption. Due to all these factors, feed wheat is not used as feed as it is.

But as an additive to the feed it fits perfectly. Combined feed with feed wheat in the composition will help animals grow quickly and efficiently, to gain weight. Most often, the quality of the feed is directly proportional to the size of its pellets. The bigger the better. Compound feed should include lysine, through which stabilizes the exchange of amino acids. And there they need phosphorus, without which other components cannot be absorbed.

The proportions are determined by which animals you plan to feed. Thus, pigs are given food in which from 20 to 40% of wheat is present. Large animals can eat food, where the proportion of wheat accounts for a third, but the exact dosage is selected individually. For poultry, the highest allowable amount is 60%, however, the grain will have to be prepared:

  • crush;
  • sprout;
  • process with yeast.

If pigs live on the farm, they should be given feed grains of durum wheat. Rational use of animal feed, including wheat, contributes to the accelerated set of body weight in young animals.What is important, in contrast to hormonal supplements and other artificial stimulants, such nutrition even improves the taste of meat obtained later from these animals. Other grains, vegetables, hay and grass of fresh mowing are used as impurities for wheat.

How to store?

Fodder can accumulate on conventional elevators. There are also plastic bags or seamless sleeves of a special polymer material. To the polymer have strict requirements. Neither water, nor air, nor sunlight should pass through it. These advantages, together with the minimum permeability to heat, make it possible to consider the storage of forage in the sleeve as the most rational option.

How to choose?

The cost of the product is determined by:

  • the volume of the current crop (filling the market);
  • varietal group;
  • type of grain;
  • demand for goods by livestock farms of a particular region.

Therefore, the cost can vary within fairly wide limits. Required documents are required for any shipment. Randomly selected bags from each delivery are sent to the laboratory test. Quality certificates must indicate the result of a check for the presence of dangerous microorganisms. The 2010 state standard normalizes the color, gloss level and transparency of the grain.

The aromas of malt and musty food, mold fungi are unacceptable. Color should be normal for wheat. The share of litter can not exceed 5% by weight, and substandard grain impurities account for 15%. In the category of garbage fall:

  • beans and seeds of other crops;
  • unsuitable for eating animals grain;
  • weed seeds;
  • pieces of earth, gravel, gravel;
  • weed plants.

The share of broken and damaged by rodents grain may account for a maximum of 50% of the mass. Grain admixture are also seedlings, crushed and shriveled, not mature fruit of wheat. GOST provides for the division of feed wheat into three categories. The first is the best and is full of plenty of vitamins. But to use the third group of forage can only with caution.
