Tomato "Intuition F1": the benefits and rules of cultivation

Tomato Intuition F1: benefits and rules of cultivation

Among the many hybrids of tomatoes, the Intuition F1 variety is popular among both beginners and experienced gardeners. This is due to its unpretentiousness to weather conditions, good seed germination and high yield. Has a variety and other advantages, which will be discussed later.

Special features

Tomato "Intuition F1" is a hybrid that was obtained among the first Russian breeders. According to the latter, this variety is characterized by increased resistance to diseases. The patent for this variety belongs to the Gavrish agricultural firm, which in 1998 was registered in the State Register.

Distinguished variety simplicity of care, so novice gardeners should look at him. It is suitable for cultivation both in open field and in greenhouse conditions.

Unlike conventional varieties, this hybrid shows high yields. From a bush for a season it is possible to remove 25-32 kg of a crop in conditions of cultivation in greenhouses and 20-22 kg - when cultivating in open ground. However, planting seeds in the second year is unacceptable, the result of such actions is unpredictable.

"F1 Intuition" really demonstrates resistance to diseases, unpretentious care (as far as applicable to tomatoes), gives a high yield.

Specifications

"Intuition F1" is a mid-season hybrid variety of tomatoes. Fruit ripening is noted 115 days after germination.

It is a tomato bush up to 2 m tall with a powerful stem. Refers to indeterminantnymi species, which means the absence of the bush end points of growth. In other words, a tomato needs pinching tops. Externally, the bushes are attractive, with velvety dark green leaves, in the period of ripening the brush is literally hung with "clusters" of tomatoes.

Forms simple bilateral inflorescences, each of which is then transformed into a "bunch" of 6-8 tomatoes. Fruits sit tightly on a branch, they are protected from cracking at the gene level. The peculiarity of the variety is its resistance to such common diseases of tomatoes as cladosporiosis, tobacco mosaic, and fusarium.

Tomatoes have a bright red color, a pleasant rounded shape, without ribbing. Unripe tomatoes - green, have no stains. Despite the fact that the variety is mid-season, it is well kept.

Fruits can be picked immature by placing them in a warm dark and dry place for further ripening.

Fruits ripen in unison, have approximately the same size. As a rule, their diameter is within 7 cm, and the average weight of one tomato is 100 g. The skin of this variety is thin, but dense, and has a slightly glossy shine. The flesh is fleshy, tender and dense, with a mass fraction of dry matter not more than 4.5%. The number of grains is moderate, they are of medium size and are located in 3-4 chambers.

Tomatoes have a classic taste with a barely perceptible sourness. They are tasty both fresh and suitable for canning, heat treatment, cooking lecho and ketchup.

Landing

Despite the fact that the variety is suitable for cultivation in the open field, we must not forget that tomatoes are a southern crop. To grow them you need a warm and long light day. Not every region can boast of such conditions, so in most parts of the country it is better to grow tomatoes in greenhouse conditions.

Before planting seeds, they should be sorted, putting aside dried, empty, in a word, unsuitable for planting seeds. Then they should be filled for a couple of hours with special solutions for disinfection (one of them is Fitosporin-M) or a weak solution of potassium permanganate. After this time, the seeds are washed under clean running water and left for 12 hours in a growth stimulator solution (for example, Epin, Zircon solutions). You can simply saturate the gauze folded in several layers with this solution, wrap the seeds in them and moisten the resulting bundle a little more by watering with a stimulant.

Such processing will not only “wake up” the seeds and ensure their uniform and timely similarity, but also levels the consequences of an abrupt change in temperature and adverse weather conditions when the tomato is in the growth and fruiting stage.

You can sow seeds in plastic or wooden boxes, but you can use disposable cups 6–8 cm high. This will reduce the risk of seed infection, because such containers are designed for single use.

Experienced gardeners recommend not using ready-made soil mixtures, as they are scarce for the maintenance of useful elements. It is preferable to personally prepare the soil. It should consist of humus, sod soil and peat. Sand and superphosphate should also be added to the resulting composition. The first will need 1 kg per 10 kg bucket of self-made soil. About 30 g of superphosphate is added to the resulting volume. Not too much will be ash, 100 g is enough.

It is important to ensure the drainage of tanks for seedlings, therefore it is necessary to prepare expanded clay or gravel.

Sow seeds should be in late February and early March. At the bottom of the box or cups for seedlings should fill the drainage layer, then the prepared soil. It is recommended to pre-disinfect it. It is important to tamp the soil well enough, eliminating air gaps.

Seeds should be buried 2 cm in the ground. If the seedlings are grown in boxes, the seeds are sown 2 cm apart. If in glasses, 2-3 grains are put in each. After the process is complete, the ground should be moistened. You can use water at room temperature or a weak solution of potassium permanganate. After watering, containers with future seedlings are covered with a film or glass and left in this state until the first shoots. The temperature at this stage should not be below +25 degrees.

If high-quality seeds that have undergone preliminary preparation are used, then the first green shoots are “pecked” after only 3-6 days. A common mistake at this stage is excessive soil moisture. In this case, in a humid environment, a fungus is formed, which is always present in the soil. He ruins even strong seedlings, not to mention just the seedlings that have appeared.

When each shoot appears on 2 leaves, it is necessary to dive (thin out). Weak shoots are better to immediately remove and discard, adjacent 2 or more shoots are planted in separate containers.

After the appearance of the first leaves green shoots need to be regularly hardened. First, a film or glass is removed for a few minutes 2-3 times a day, then the quenching procedure lasts up to several hours, and finally, the glass or film is completely removed. After that, for 2-3 hours a day, you can open the windows and doors of the greenhouse or carry out seedlings on the street.

After 55 days from the time of sowing, the seedlings can be transplanted into permanent ground, while the temperature of the latter should not be below 12-14 degrees. When planting in a cold ground, the bush will take a long time to take root, and it may even die. To do this, dig holes with a depth of 20–25 cm (it is also recommended to pre-disinfect the soil, for example, with a weak solution of potassium permanganate) and transplant a bush into it. The distance between them should be at least half a meter. Moisten the wells with water. The optimal landing time is evening or overcast day. When landing in open ground, the day must be without wind.

You should not dig too deep holes, because the plant can begin to build up the root mass, going deep, which will slow down the growth and development of the bush, the formation of ovaries. At this point, the seedlings are still very tender, so it is recommended to immediately tie up. It is important to do this with synthetic materials, since they do not cause plant rot.

It is important not only to prepare the soil, but also the greenhouse, if the tomatoes are planted there. The design must have vents in the upper part.Last year's soil is recommended to be disinfected, for example, with copper sulphate solution (30 g per 10 l of water), after removing 7-10 cm of top soil. It is also necessary to disinfect all the elements of the greenhouse frame, the boxes, the removed layer - to fill with a similar thickness of humus. These preparatory activities are carried out about 7-10 days before planting the seedlings.

Care

Leaving involves abundant watering, but it is important to avoid stagnation of water, occasional loosening and crazing. Loosen the soil around the bushes is recommended every 2 weeks, while it is important to remember that this hybrid has an extensive root system. It is not spread deep, but horizontally, so when loosening it should be monitored to see if the roots are damaged.

Masking is also done every 14 days. This procedure is the removal of excess lateral and upper branches, so that the plant does not spend strength on building up green shoots, but concentrates them on the formation of ovaries. During the pinching, you should also remove the lower leaves on the bushes. HThe best crop can be obtained by staving 1-2 stems.

The plant must also regularly pinch, which allows you to stop their growth upwards. If this is not done, the tomatoes will reach up (they have no natural stopping point), without forming the right amount of ovaries. It is clear that this will lead to lower yields.

Soil bushes should pinch, leaving 5 brushes, if in the greenhouse - you can pinch the bush after the seventh brush. When growing a variety in the southern regions, where the summer is long and warm, you can do without nipping. Pinching is obligatory for the northern regions and the central zone.

Watering the plant is better with warm water, the cold can provoke diseases of the culture. Watering should be closer to the root, making sure that the earth does not erode, exposing the roots.

One of the advantages of the hybrid "Intuition F1" is its genetic resistance to diseases. However, this is not a reason to refuse preventive irrigation and spraying with specialized formulations. You need to do these procedures several times per season.

Periodically you need to "build up" the height of the supports of the bushes, if you initially used quite short supports. The best option would be a 3-meter trellis, to which you can tie up tomatoes, for example, a nylon thread.

Tomatoes also need additional feeding several times per season. The first can be carried out already after 10-14 days after planting seedlings into the ground. For these purposes, suitable conventional wood ash. A glass of ash should be poured with a bucket of water, mix and insist 3-5 hours. You can water the bushes with this solution.

Reviews

Sort "Intuition F1" receives a lot of positive feedback from gardeners. The latter note the unpretentiousness of tomatoes to weather conditions and high yields. This is evidenced by feedback from residents not only of the central part, but also of the Urals, Chelyabinsk.

As the reviews say, the taste of the tomato is normal, but its size and peel strength makes the tomatoes of the Intuition F1 variety suitable for storage, preservation and transportation. Other gardeners, when it comes to the taste of the variety, also note that its taste is good enough for a hybrid.

Tomatoes are marketable, as they say, one to one, and ripen about the same time. This is very convenient in terms of harvesting large areas, as well as for those who sell tomatoes.

Most users note a good ability to form ovaries even in “bad” summer in the open field. The only thing that in this case usually have to remove the tomatoes from the bush brown. They ripen already in room conditions, which somewhat reduces the taste of the fruit.

Basically, they are grown for preservation, because medium-sized fruits are dense, fleshy, very rarely (rather, it is even an exception) crack.
