Tomato "Hali-Ghali": yield varieties and features of cultivation
Many people are looking forward to the coming of summer, in order to quickly eat ripe tomatoes. One of the first to ripen vegetables varieties "Khali Gali", a hybrid, created in 2003 in Siberia. Its main features are the ease of growing both outdoors and indoors, as well as its pleasant taste.
Special features
Tomatoes "Hali-Ghali" belong to the determinant varieties, that is, having a stopping point of growth. There is an F1 hybrid of the same name. The plant feels best in the southern regions - there it is customary to grow it in beds. If the situation occurs in a cool climate, then you should use the film cover or transfer the tomatoes to the greenhouse.
This variety is not afraid of bad weather: neither drought nor excessive rain. It does not spoil even in the situation of temperature fluctuations. Such unpretentiousness along with compact size allows to harvest without problems even on the balconies of a city apartment. Fruits ripen early, appear within three months, but not in very large quantities. In addition, even to achieve an average result, it is necessary to provide periodic fertilizer plantings. The tomatoes themselves are very tasty, even sweet, due to their high sugar content.
"Hali-Ghali" is often grown for sale, because the fruits favorably tolerate long-term storage and are not afraid of transportation. It should be noted that the inflorescences of the bushes do not have nectar. Because of this, the task of pollination is transferred to the gardener himself: you have to either act with your own hands, or somehow lure the bees. Caring for a culture is fairly standard, but it is important not to forget to set up supports immediately and regularly form a shrub by means of beefing.
Tomatoes have increased immunity against common diseases. Timely care only enhances the ability to resist bacteria. It is important to watering in time, loosen the ground, provide fresh air (ventilate the greenhouses or remove the bottom sheets) and provide sufficient lighting.
As for pests, Hali-Ghali often attacks aphids and thrips. To deal with them more effectively with the help of chemical solutions, for example, "Bison". Attacks of the Colorado beetles are also possible, especially if the tomatoes are growing in the garden. In this case, the adults gather, the larvae are destroyed along with the damaged leaves, and the plant itself is treated with a special preparation.
Characteristic
Tomato varieties "Hali-Ghali" ripens quite early. From the first shoots and until the collection of the first tomatoes will have to wait an average of 90 days. In the greenhouse, it is likely that the tomato will ripen faster in two weeks. The plant itself is very small and compact, but strong, and the height of the bush barely exceeds 90 centimeters (the minimum is 50 centimeters). Upstairs there is a characteristic taper. The leaves are painted in a light green tint and have a medium size. The first inflorescence appears after the fifth - the seventh leaf.
The fruits have a round shape with a small bulge at the bottom, similar to the nose, and dense skin. By the nose, by the way, “Hali-Ghali” is most often distinguished from other varieties. The average weight of a tomato is 150 grams (the maximum reaches 250 grams and the minimum is 70 grams), and the color is saturated red. Vegetables are equally successfully used for harvesting, and for fresh consumption, and for heat treatment. Due to the high sugar content, mashed potatoes and juices from this vegetable are especially popular. The taste of Khali-Gali is relatively good for early varieties.
The yield of this variety is satisfactory: on one square meter of the bed grows from 6 to 8 kilograms of tomatoes, in the greenhouse this figure can increase to 15 kilograms. From one bush on average 3 kilograms of fruits gather.
The recommended landing pattern looks like 50 by 40 centimeters. Plants should be placed in such a way that there is a gap of 50 centimeters between them. It should also be remembered that first grow tomatoes with a large weight, and then it decreases. Seeds are sent to the ground or to the greenhouse three months after the start of seedling cultivation.
It is important to know that the bush will develop normally only if the air temperature is 25 degrees Celsius.
Landing
Work with seedlings begins in early spring. The Khali-Ghali variety is a hybrid variety, therefore, it will not be possible to extract seeds from the fruits of the previous harvest on your own. You should buy seeds in the store, and contact only trusted suppliers. In the next step, a ready earthen mixture is acquired, or the soil from the garden is mixed with humus.
Prepared and disinfected containers are filled with several layers. The first is claydite, which acts as a drainage, the second is already watered earth. Holes are dug to a depth of 1 centimeter, and seeds are placed there. Then the planting will be wrapped with plastic wrap and left in a lighted space, where the temperature is maintained at about 23-34 degrees Celsius. When sprouts appear, the film will need to be removed and containers moved to a space with a temperature varying from 17 to 19 degrees.
During the seedling period it is very important to provide the tomatoes with sufficient illumination in the amount of 12 hours. If the region is overcast, you will have to do it yourself. In addition, it is important not to forget about regular watering.
The appearance of two leaves on the plants will mark the beginning of the dive period, and after two months from the start of work, it will be time to transplant the seedlings to the ground.
For tomatoes to prepare well-lit areas with nutrient soil on the south side of the site. It is impossible to plant "Hali-Ghali" in the place where other solanaceous plants used to grow, but it is possible for former beds of beans, onions or cabbage. In theory, you can plant several varieties of tomatoes on one bed. “Going out” is allowed only when the frosts end. For open ground, this means the end of May - the beginning of June, and for closed ground - two weeks earlier.
The landing occurs as follows: the ground should be preheated before the temperature of the soil reaches 15 degrees Celsius. In parallel, you can disinfect it and a solution of potassium permanganate. Several rows are formed, the distance between which is 50 centimeters. Between the plants themselves will have to observe a gap of 40 centimeters. One square meter can not be placed more than 6 bushes. Sprouts are immersed in the ground strictly vertically along with a soil clod. After the landing, "Hali-Ghali" will have to be watered.
Care
Regular care for the "Hali-Gali" is the guarantor of a decent harvest. First of all, it is important to pile up the beds. The first procedure is carried out 14 days after the seedlings are in the ground. The second will follow in another two weeks, the third and fourth will be made at the same intervals. Regular loosening will contribute to the penetration of oxygen into the soil, which will improve the situation with the root system. Watering is carried out depending on the condition of the soil - if the top layer is dry, then it is irrigation time. It is more abundant during the period of growth of bushes and decreases after the appearance of fruits. You can pour water only under the root.
The first feeding is arranged 14 days after the "transfer to the street." For her, it is recommended to use organic fertilizers, for example, cow manure or herbal solution. The next is to wait for the second stage of flowering. Here it already makes sense to use mineral compounds based on phosphorus and potassium. The trunk of the bush will require a garter, and the branches - supports, so as not to break under the weight of the fruit.
An important procedure is the pinching. Forming one, two or three stems, it is necessary to remove excess leaves and axillary inflorescences (three - open ground, two and one - greenhouse). This will be, on the one hand, the guarantor of quality airing, and on the other - the development of fruits. Finally, gardeners are advised to periodically shake the tomatoes, otherwise the fertilization procedure will be difficult. Tomatoes will need to shake in the period from 12 to 15 hours, and then slightly pour warm liquid with pestles.
Tips and tricks
Reviews gardeners contain many useful tips and advice on growing crops. For example, you can find out that the skin of this class is too thick and not everyone will like fresh taste. Therefore, these tomatoes are better still used for blanks for the winter. It is better to sow seeds in low peat pots, and instead of a plastic film, you can use ordinary glass.
In order for the seedlings to quickly adapt to the ground, closed or open, the landing is best done at a time when there is a minimum amount of sun: either in the evening or in cloudy weather.
The timing of planting seeds for seedlings varies slightly by region. If it happens in southern warm regions or in Ukraine, then work should begin from the end of February to mid-March. The central region corresponds to the interval: mid-March - early April. In the Ural and Siberian cities, seedlings should be dealt with even later - in the first half of April. It is important to observe these deadlines in order not to overdo the plant in a “seedling state”.
Ten days before planting the seedlings need to begin to harden it - to take out to the fresh air for a certain period of time. The very date of sowing of seeds is determined depending on the last frost. Having specified it, it is necessary to recede two months ago and to receive day of the beginning of work with seedling in case of an open ground. If you plan to greenhouse, then you can start even earlier - for two or three weeks.
