Serum for cucumbers and tomatoes: preparation and use

To do this, fit everything that will be at hand: mustard, yeast, tobacco ash, and whey. This dairy product has recently enjoyed great popularity among vegetable growers due to its versatile properties, accessibility and safety, as well as efficiency.

The beneficial properties of whey have been known for a long time. She is valued for quality and ease of delivery. Whey is made from milk by the method of ripening. It is a by-product of cheese and curd production. It appears when casein is curtailed by the action of microorganisms' own vital activity, or by adding acid or rennet.

The serum has excellent hydrating properties, replenishes the loss of necessary substances and elements caused by dehydration or other negative influences, contains macro- and microelements involved in metabolic processes. It also has a positive effect on the plant in different phases of the growing season, in this and particular case - on vegetable plants in the form of tomatoes and cucumbers.

Due to its copper content, iodine is an excellent antiseptic. It also has an antimicrobial effect. On sale you can buy alcohol and aqueous solutions of iodine. Aqueous are much less common, therefore alcohol solution is more often added to the serum. The combination of iodine and whey is one of the effective ways to combat late blight, and whey lactic acids partially neutralize the iodine solution while preserving all the disinfecting properties of the composition.

Handle vegetable crops easily. It is only important to adhere to the correct proportions when mixing the solution. To prepare the solution, use the following recipe: take a bucket of water, a liter of whey (or sour milk) and iodine (only ten drops are needed). Do not forget that for the solution it is necessary to use an already diluted serum in half with water. All ingredients are mixed, the resulting composition thoroughly sprayed cucumber bushes.

Spraying can be done manually or with a spray gun. In order not to breathe water vapor, you need to wear a special mask. It is best to process the plants in the evening in calm weather, so that the therapeutic composition has time to consolidate on the leaves of the plants and begin to act. Repeat the procedure should be every 14 days during the entire life of the plant.

There is another way of treating plants with fermented milk product. They take sour milk and, without diluting, put on the inner surface of the cucumber leaves with a wide brush. Tomato bushes are simply splashed with sour milk. In this form, give the plant a little dry, and then wash off the remnants of the composition with water. This simple method helps a lot when you need to urgently protect a plant from pests and diseases.

Sour milk can also be used for feeding vegetables, as well as whey, with the only difference that you rarely need to carry out the procedure: only one, maximum - twice a summer. To protect against phytophthora apply a little trick. Baking soda is added to a water solution on the basis of whey per 5 liters of the composition - 25 grams of soda. It is known that late blight is very dangerous for plants such as tomatoes. If you do not take any measures to combat it, you can lose the entire crop, and the plant itself may wither and die. To protect against late blight and prevention of recurrent disease with late blight, tomato seedlings are irrigated with a solution of whey, previously diluted with water. The protective film formed on the tomato leaves, does not give a chance for the appearance of various pests.

To protect against phytophthora, tomatoes are treated with serum and iodine. Prepare a solution for the type of solution for cucumbers, but instead of soap, add wood ash. Spraying should be carried out as often as possible - every week.

The serum is also suitable for feeding seedlings and adult plants in greenhouses and in the open field. To give cucumbers and tomatoes good growth, you need to start using special stimulation and protection tools as soon as possible.
