 Characteristics of a variety of cucumber Trilodzhi and features of cultivation

"Trilogy" - unpretentious variety of cucumbers, however, like any culture, it requires a certain care. For this fall, he will thank the high yield of tasty fruits. Consider the features of the variety in more detail.

Description

The breeder variety “Triloji F1” has recently been bred. It belongs to the hybrid varieties, self-pollinating plants, is characterized by persistent immunity to many diseases. “Trilogy” has an average ripening period, its vegetative period is 60 days. He usually gives a high yield

This variety of cucumbers was originally supplied to Russia by the company “Rajk Zwaan” from the Netherlands. Today "Trilogy" is included in the state register and allowed to grow on the territory of the Central and North-West Federal District of the Russian Federation.

Trilogy's ability to self-pollinate allows the plant to dispense with bees and the presence of neighboring flowering plants. A feature of the variety is that the fruits ripen exclusively on the central trunk. All side shoots are very weak, they are not fruiting. The plant has an average branching, and all the resulting flowers are female type.

Fruits have a dark green color. At the same time, the color is spotty, with short light stripes. On cucumbers there are small bumps and spikes of white. In length cucumber grows no more than 10 cm, and its weight ranges from 80 to 100 grams. The fruits have excellent taste characteristics - they are very juicy, crispy, they have absolutely no bitterness.

In our country, the variety “Trilogy” is grown in large volumes on farmland and in greenhouses. In industrial production, the yield of the plant reaches 650 centners per hectare, which is one and a half times higher than that of the old breeding varieties. The variety is also popular with amateur gardens.

Growing up

To accommodate the culture should choose a sunny place that is protected from the winds. Cucumber is best suited sandy or light loamy land. Culture grows best on the soil on which winter and spring wheat, onions, carrots, cabbage, tomatoes, or peppers were previously grown. If you plant after pumpkin crops, the yield will be very low.

Planting "Trilogy" carried seedlings, and the seeds can be sown immediately in open ground. With the seedling method, the seeds are planted at the beginning of May (3-4 weeks before planting).

Seeds need to pre-soak. In a couple of days, they will "hatch." Then they should be placed in individual peat pots.

Transplanting seedlings carried out after the appearance of 3 full leaves. If the plant has more than 5 leaves, it should be thrown away, because such seedlings will take root slowly or die immediately. Transplantation of seedlings in open ground is carried out closer to the end of May - the beginning of June, when the soil warms up completely.

When planting seeds in a seedless way, one should wait for the soil to warm up to + 15 ° С. Seeds are planted to a depth of no more than two centimeters. The distance between plants should be at least half a meter. Experienced gardeners used a trench type of planting cucumbers. With this method, a 40-cm-deep trench is dug, to the bottom of which organic matter is deposited. Ground is sprinkled on top, then seeds are planted.

During the decomposition of organic fertilizers give a large amount of heat, which contributes to the rapid growth of plants and the development of fruits. "Trilogy" should be fed with mineral fertilizers throughout the summer season. The best temperature regime for plant growth is not lower than + 15 ° С and not higher than + 30 ° С. Cold weather can lead to stunting or even to the death of the plant, therefore during cold weather the plant should be temporarily covered with a film or other covering material.

On the central stem to a height of 40-50 cm, remove all lateral stepsons and ovaries. When it reaches a height of 80 cm, it is pinched and very carefully wrapped around the trellis, leaving only three shoots in leafy nodes.

In the future, left shoots pinch after the appearance of 5 sheets. The ovary is regulated as the fruit grows.

The greatest harvest from a bush can be harvested in the first month of fruiting, therefore, an increased amount of nutrients should be introduced during this period. "Trilodzhi" fruits very well with the regular application of nitrogen and potash fertilizers.

The variety “Trilogy” is resistant to such major cucumber diseases as the cucumber mosaic virus, kladosporiosis, powdery mildew, but unstable to peronospora. To protect the plants, they should be re-planted on the same site in five years. In cool and wet weather, the bushes should be protected from possible diseases by spraying them with fungicides twice a season.

It should be borne in mind that before the flowering the need for water in cucumbers is very low. Watering young plants is rare and only with water not lower than 20 ° C, because cold liquid can slow down the growth of the plant. After the appearance of the first ovary, watering is carried out every day in small volumes only in the morning or evening.

“Trilogy” cucumbers are removed from the garden in a not very mature form when they are still in a state of gherkins. Greenhouse cucumbers are harvested daily, and the harvest in the open field is carried out every other day.

It should not be during the harvest to move cucumber lash, this procedure can significantly affect the further development and fruiting. Fruits are used in food in fresh form, they are also great for salting and preservation.

Advantages and disadvantages

"Trilogy" has a number of positive properties:

  • resistant to many diseases;
  • not afraid of sudden changes in temperature;
  • characterized by excellent germination;
  • has a high yield;
  • Fruits are able to maintain a marketable condition for a long time, they tolerate transportation very well.

The only disadvantage of this variety is its instability to peronosporoza. The bushes have no immunity for this disease, therefore the infected plant dies within a few days.

Reviews

Gardeners growing cucumbers "Trilogy F1" seedlings, get an excellent harvest, but fruiting does not last long. Fruits delight rich taste and thin skin. However, gardeners note that it is impossible to keep such cucumbers for a long time, otherwise they quickly lose their taste.

Some gardeners report that when planting seeds collected from last year's crop, and seeds purchased in the store, there is a big difference in the appearance of the plants and the harvest. Purchased seeds germinate very quickly, the plants grow together, the fruits are large and very tasty. The seeds of the crop do not grow too well, the bushes grow slowly, the ovaries are very small, and the fruits grow small and irregular in shape.
