Cucumber "Pogrebok": characteristics of the variety and features of cultivation
Each plant and each variety has its own specific features.They should approach all of them as carefully and correctly as possible, taking into account the needs and requirements of the gardener and the climatic situation in the region. Only under this condition, for example, the cucumber "Pogrebok" will be a productive plant.
Special features
The fruits of this type of cucumber are considered universal, they allow to grow crops for all basic purposes, even in a small space. The demand for culture among gardeners is very high. Botanical description of the variety clearly indicates that it belongs to the ultra early group. After the emergence of seedlings before the removal of the very first harvest will be no more than 49 days. Since the plant is one of those pollinated by bees, it is ideal for cultivation in an open area.
Like all first-generation hybrids, the F1 Cellar is not able to retain varietal characteristics. Also note that:
- when forming bushes, they will certainly need a support — a grid on poles or a trellis;
- the length of the lashes does not exceed 0.6-0.7 m;
- the foliage of cucumbers is broad with dense pubescence;
- there is a good development of side shoots.
Cultivation, care and result
The bush "Pogrebka" for the vegetative season is capable of producing 17 kg of fruits. The formation of the ovary occurs in bunches, therefore, more than 10 fruits are simultaneously present on each lash. The fruits themselves are beautiful and crunchy, a bitter aftertaste is uncharacteristic for them. It is very important to ensure full watering. If it is not done, cavities appear in cucumbers and they are no longer suitable for preservation.
Sowing is done in the second half of May. It is recommended to process the planting material in advance with a weak solution of potassium permanganate. The planting scheme implies a distance of 0.4-0.5 m between the holes. If this requirement is observed, the shoots receive optimal natural ventilation and stop interfering with each other's lighting. Excessively thick planting very often get sick. Even if they remain outwardly healthy, you can get only a meager harvest.
Top dressing is of great importance for the crop. Adding both organic and minerals should occur at different phases of the growing season. Before planting, rotted manure is introduced (by no means fresh, able to destroy cucumbers). As soon as early shoots are found, they are fed with nitrate to accelerate development.
At the stage of formation of flowers and fruits, it is recommended to feed with ashes. In addition to the use of an aqueous solution, it can be used to sprinkle it near the roots just before watering. Good results are brought by the use of weed tinctures. 14 days before processing, the above-ground parts of harmful plants are soaked and kept in full sun.
The use of flowering or given weed seeds is not allowed. They instead of benefit can cause obvious harm.
Additional Information
Judging by the reviews, the fruits can be used:
- when salting;
- marinated;
- fermented;
- fresh in appetizers and salads.
Since the "cellar" requires pollination by bees, it cannot be grown in a greenhouse. Cultivation under the film remains in question. As for other varieties, cold water is absolutely unacceptable during irrigation. Ensure attractive characteristics of the harvest "Pogrebka" and to achieve a guaranteed fruit harvest is possible only with a systematic pest control.
The main threat to plants are slugs. To prevent their aggression, as well as to stop the attack of aphids, you can, if you sprinkle the perimeter of the beds with wood ash and powder the foliage with it. Slightly less common defeat spider mite. A characteristic sign of its invasion is a series of small cobwebs, enveloping bushes from all sides. The real struggle with folk remedies is impossible, you will have to use only one of the synthetic reagents:
- "Etsisso" (introduced under the bushes);
- Plan-Pin (similar use);
- "Aktara" (in the form of an aqueous solution).
Violations of the rules of care or limited feedings dramatically increase the likelihood of diseases "Pogrebka." It is possible to suppress powdery mildew, destroying the affected bushes, and treating the whole with sulfur powder or a solution of mullein (at a concentration of 2%). White rot can only be fought by thinning the beds, which eliminates the reason for its appearance. It is possible to prevent the formation of root rot if you water only cucumbers with warm water and mulch them so that the plants will not freeze during the cold summer. It is not recommended to plant a “cellar” where carrots or beans were previously grown.
