How to make coffee in a coffee maker?
Coffee has long and very firmly entered our daily lives, and today there are not too many people who would not like this fragrant drink, helping to wake up and be awake throughout the day. The original technology of brewing coffee is quite complicated, because in our time it has been simplified with the help of technology. At the same time, some people even get a drink in a primitive car no worse than in the world's best specialized establishments, while others, even an expensive machine does not help to make coffee really tasty.
As is often the case, the technique just simplifies the process, but for a perfect result you still need to know some secrets.
Special features
The complexity of cooking exemplary coffee is that the result is not affected by any one factor. You need to find the perfect combination of the right coffee, choose the type of coffee machine that best suits your favorite brand, and also just know how the desired drink is brewed. Professionally this will not be taught anywhere, probably, because all that remains to be done is to look for instructions on the Internet and not be afraid to experiment, carefully remembering successful moves.
Here it should also be understood that there is no single way to make coffee. Anyone who has visited a popular coffee shop at least once will probably know that there are at least a dozen varieties of coffee. For the sake of justice, it is necessary to clarify that there are several “coffee” countries in the world, where this drink has literally become a cult, and each such country has its own coffee traditions that are not completely represented in our coffee houses.
Two conclusions can be drawn from here: first, there are no universal recipes for cooking, but there are your favorites, and second, the drink itself can open up in a new way even after many decades of its active use. However, some people in all cases brew coffee very mediocre, because it is worth a deeper insight into the causes of such permanent failures.
Types of equipment
If the coffee does not always work, even though only the highest quality raw materials are used for brewing, you should not immediately give up trying - perhaps you are simply using a coffee machine that is designed for anything but your favorite type. In the end, no wonder such equipment is fundamentally different - of course, the result also differs. For a better understanding, we consider not only typical coffee makers, but also any modern appliances designed specifically for brewing coffee using a special technology.
- Drip Coffee Maker - Probably the most recognizable coffee machine in the whole world, which came to us from America, where it practically does not face competition. Here, ground coffee is poured into a special filter, and the water is boiled in a separate tank, after which a drop is passed through the coffee mass, gathering its flavor and smell. Advanced models may include a built-in coffee grinder and many other technological devices, but the principle of brewing the beverage remains the same. Ease of preparation contributes to the enormous popularity of such a technique, but as you know, mass elitism does not happen, so don’t count here for anything more than regular coffee.
- Geyser coffee maker Many are familiar not as an electric device, but as a kind of teapot, shaped like an hourglass, although the electric version already exists too. Such a design is incredibly popular in Italy - the most "coffee" European country. In principle, the essence of coffee brewing is very similar to that of drip coffee makers, just individual parts are arranged in a different order with respect to each other. Brewing here is carried out due to the fact that boiling water reaches a special filter-protected compartment with coffee, which is located above the water tank.
If the “waist” of the product is narrow enough, the coffee is very tasty. However, do not rely on the foam of such a drink.
- Purchase of rozhkovy coffee makers can be a real salvation for those who love strong espresso or consider themselves to be connoisseurs of thick coffee crema.Again, the coffee preparation scheme resembles an drip coffee maker, but instead of a typical filter in which ground coffee cannot be tamped, a special horn made of metal or plastic is used in which coffee can be tamped, but also needed. For an even brighter taste, the capacity into which the finished drink is poured is advised to preheat.
- Automatic jazz - this is a comparatively recent invention, which is practically not found in our country so far. Such a device is designed to prepare real coffee in an oriental way without the complex technology of heating the sand, however there is a suspicion that real connoisseurs of Turkish coffee would not appreciate such a trick, preferring the classic cezve.
Choosing raw materials
It happens, of course, that the person is doing everything right, and the coffee maker is suitable and of high quality, but the drink still turns out so-so. It's time to remember that the coffee itself can be of completely different quality. To begin with, you should understand that the cheapest solutions can not even smell real coffee, because various foreign ingredients like chicory are often added there, and it is good if it is at least mixed with natural coffee, and not presented in its pure form.
From advertising, everyone probably heard that coffee is of two main types - Arabica and Robusta. It is impossible to find the last one in its pure form, since its taste will not much please the gourmets - such grains are grown solely because they give the drink strengths in a mixture of relatively soft arabica. The best coffee is usually made from one hundred percent Arabica, but do not think that the absence of impurities Robusta already indicates the high quality of raw materials. A good mixture of two varieties is often better than mediocre, albeit pure Arabica.
Coffee lovers certainly noticed that the ground version is cheaper than grain, although it is the first that provides for more processing. This happens for a reason - the fact is that no one will grind a really good coffee.
Traditionally, coffee beans are ground just before brewing - this is how they retain maximum flavor and aroma, because ground coffee is less preferable, and in this form they sell not a variety of raw materials, but a mixture of different varieties and harvests.
If the choice still fell on ground coffee, you need to pay attention to the fact that thorough grinding affects the choice of a particular type of coffee maker.
- Most coarse grinding may contain particles with a diameter of almost a millimeter, such coffee will reveal its advantages only in a geyser coffee maker.
- Medium grinding It is considered universal, not pushing special restrictions on the type of coffee machines.
- Coffee fine grinding valued for the fact that it retains its aroma and flavor characteristics for quite a long time, it is well suited for drip-type coffee makers. In the East, it is customary to grind coffee beans almost to the state of dust, and here no filters will help, because such a drink, which also has an excellent taste, can only be prepared in a cezve.
How to make a drink?
There are no special secrets about how to make coffee in a coffee maker. More precisely, they exist, but they mainly concern the choice of raw materials, both in the context of its quality and in strict relation to the type of coffee maker. All other details of the preparation of the flavored drink are usually detailed in the instructions for the specific unit.
In order to brew coffee in a drip-type coffee maker, you need to select the raw material of relatively fine grinding and pour it into a special filter based on the proportion of 2-3 tablespoons of powder per cup of drink. Remember that ramming coffee is by no means worth it - it only needs to be leveled gently, otherwise small particles may leak through the filter.Based on a similar proportion, which, by the way, is about the same for all coffee machines, water is poured into a special tank.
If the equipment was bought at a high price, it can be equipped with all sorts of interesting possibilities, such as regulating the strength of a drink — set it up as you like. Otherwise, nothing complicated - you need to turn on the device and wait until the cup is filled with ready-made drink.
Cooking an invigorating drink in a geyzernaya coffee machine should be done in an absolutely similar way with the only difference that coffee is poured into the filter located in the middle (at the “waist” of the device), and water is poured into the lower part.
If the drip tightness of the pot during operation is simply important, then for a geyzernaya coffee maker this condition is fundamental, otherwise the coffee will not be brewed - it is thanks to a couple that the water reaches the coffee powder.
Brewing coffee in a rozhkovogo coffee machine should be the same pattern as in the drip device, but the powder poured into the horn must be, on the contrary, carefully tamped. Due to this, the water in the process of passing through the coffee grounds is more actively saturated with smell and taste.
Real gourmets strongly recommend preheating dishes beforehand, otherwise the main point of such a device - the strength of the drink and thick foam - will be completely leveled.
As for the automatic cezve, here, unlike the classic cezve, there are no secrets at all - you just need to fill in the finest possible grinding coffee, pour water and press a button.
How and with what to drink?
Although coffee is, of course, an invigorating drink, in any "coffee-like" country they will be surprised to see a person who drinks such a drink in one gulp. They drink coffee to make quick decisions and act quickly, but the procedure itself is a moment of relaxation that should not be neglected. Always and everywhere it is used slowly, in small sips, but the accompanying ingredients or snacks depend on personal preferences.
For us, of course, the closest is the French tradition, according to which a day should be started with a cup of hot coffee with a fresh crispy croissant. Italian coffee additives are also popular - the most famous are milk and cream, hot chocolate, and nuts.
In the East, a very popular solution is the use of coffee brewed with the addition of numerous spices, among which cardamom, cinnamon and cloves are particularly popular. Often such a recipe can be found in Europe, but the eastern proportions suggest a double and even triple excess of the number of spices. It should be noted that this drink is drunk very hot here, so it’s simply impossible not to get excited about such a drink. Often, they also don’t add sugar to the drink, preferring to serve traditional oriental sweets to coffee.
The strongest types of coffee, popular mainly in the Arab world, are notable for their considerable bitterness, and they do not add sugar, therefore they are often served immediately with a glass of water, designed to compensate for the disturbed water balance.
Finally, it is popular to add some types of alcohol to coffee — brandy, rum, or Irish whiskey. The exact type of this supplement depends on the specific country and personal preferences of each person.
