 Why take milk after alcohol?

The use of alcohol in modern society is quite common, and even if a person has no problems with uncontrolled regular drinking, then at least on holidays almost always can afford some strong drinks. This product allows you to relax and have a good time in the evening, but in the morning you can regret it a lot, because a hangover is a terrible syndrome that only becomes more acute with age.

Sharp pain from every careless movement makes a person ready to agree to any effective methods against pain, but, oddly enough, just not to completely give up alcohol in the future. On the Internet, it is often possible to find recommendations on the use of milk as an anti-alcoholic drug, but not everything that is written is worth believing, so let us see in more detail what the effect of such treatment can be.

Product compatibility

To begin with, it is necessary to figure out whether milk and alcohol in the stomach are compatible, and whether their mixing will provoke additional fermentation processes in the digestive tract, causing even greater harm.

The answer is yes - milk and alcohol are compatible, there are even cow-based alcoholic cocktails. There is a widespread belief that hangovers can be avoided altogether thanks to just one glass of milk, drunk about two to three hours before the libations. Scientists decided to check this statement and came to the conclusion that there really is some benefit from this method, but it is somewhat exaggerated.

If you drink full-fat milk, it forms a thick film on the stomach wall, which partially levels the irritating effect of alcohol - thanks to this you will be able to avoid at least a burning sensation in the stomach. Moreover, part of the alcohol molecules will even be removed from the body without splitting, that is, intoxication will be slower and less weak. However, if it only provokes a person in order to reach deep condition, then the hangover will not go anywhere, because the milk film does not completely prevent the absorption of alcohol into the blood.

As for the use of milk after alcohol, there is also a benefit from this - in addition to the above, the product also nourishes the body with vitamins and calories, which is very useful for a person poisoned with ethanol. Milk after alcohol is not a panacea, but it is quite difficult to overestimate its effect. However, there are always certain contraindications for everything. Drinking milk is not a drunk person in the following cases:

  • if low acidity is diagnosed, as milk with an alkaline environment can completely stop digestion for a period of time;
  • lactose intolerance is a contraindication for drinking milk not only drunk, but also sober;
  • the diuretic effect of milk, so useful for removing toxins from the body, can exacerbate renal stone disease and other diseases of the kidneys, especially if alcohol was also diuretic;
  • milk, like alcohol, creates an additional burden on the pancreas, so when ill with this organ, two products should not be combined;
  • if inflammatory processes are diagnosed in the intestine, milk should not be drunk following alcohol - this will create ideal conditions for the rapid reproduction of parasitic bacteria;
  • the sick liver will react to milk with alcohol at best with heaviness in the stomach, and at worst with bloating and diarrhea.

Hangover action

A hangover is a symptom of a serious poisoning of the body, and quite a few drugs “from hangover” will rather mask the signs of poisoning, leaving concern for solving the main problem to the body itself. Naturally, the sooner this happens, the better for humans, because it is worth splitting ethyl alcohol and “feeding” the body with vitamins.About the rich vitamin composition of cow's milk they have heard everything, and it breaks down alcohol to safe acetic acid. Therefore it is worth drinking milk in all cases when there are no contraindications described above.

It should be noted that the milk does not make the suffering person wait until the body heals itself - tryptophan, which is responsible for the splitting of alcohol, at the same time adjusts the work of the nervous system so that it works correctly, without reacting to any small movement.

At the same time, toxins are excreted not only from the intestines, as is the case with most pharmaceutical sorbents, but also from the liver and kidneys, where they can linger longer. At the same time, alcohol also washes away vitamins A and B from the body, weakening a person. However, in milk, all the vitamins are contained in sufficient quantities for the body to recover in the shortest possible time.

It is not for nothing that dairy products are recommended to everyone who works in a hazardous industry - such a drink is very conducive to the accelerated elimination of all the excess from the body, and this is exactly what we need for alcoholic or any other poisoning. It should be understood that toxins, whose entry into the blood is prevented by milk, cannot simply disappear from the stomach.

In some cases, there are so many of them that their removal is required immediately, and then vomiting is possible. Before each meal, it is necessary to understand what alcohol use rate should not be exceeded, otherwise even milk will not help to cope with the consequences without negative phenomena.

Terms of Use

To get rid of everything superfluous from the body as soon as possible, you should not drink it at once, but according to certain rules. Fight with the syndrome usually begin in the morning, when the person as a whole otrezvel, but not moved away from the poisoning. After the whole night, perhaps, a slight appetite has already appeared, but so far it is not worth diluting the main medicinal ingredient (milk).

It should be used one glass every hour on an empty stomach until health improvement becomes noticeable, although in many sources this dosage is called twice and even three times too high.

At the same time in the first two or three hours it is important to ensure the maximum metabolic rate in the body, and any cooled product such processes will certainly slow down. Therefore, the milk must either be slightly warmed or diluted with warm water. Only after three hours, if there has not been a significant improvement, you can drink cool milk, chilled for half an hour in the refrigerator, in small sips and slowly - so as not to aggravate the situation with a cold. In your mouth you will surely feel severe dryness - to neutralize it, you can use ryazhenka, kefir or yogurt instead of fresh milk.

At the same time, only the most natural product will bring the maximum benefit, and therefore it is contraindicated to boil milk - it should not even be heated up too much, because the amino acids, to which the mentioned tryptophan belongs, decompose from substantial heating. Even cold milk, once boiled, will not bring the expected benefits, so you should not try to be treated with an ultra-pasteurized or baked product.

Expert advice

As is often the case, the beneficial properties of a single product can be supplemented with the curative effects of another ingredient, making such a home remedy of complex effects. Many nations even have whole recipes - for example, in Italy it is customary to serve whipped sweetened milk with bananas in the morning after a feast, and sometimes even with mint and spices, because such additional ingredients accelerate the elimination of toxins from the body. A similar scheme has long been used in Bulgaria, where natural fruit yogurts are used to treat hangover syndrome.

These countries are located in the south, because it is somewhat easier for their residents to use fresh fruit to combat hangovers.In our conditions, these ingredients are not always found in the refrigerator, and in some cases they are not even too easy to buy in the store, especially if you are poisoned and there is no one to help with an urgent visit to the store. In this situation, some other milk supplements that are more likely to be found on the farm can help - there are a lot of them, therefore at least something should be found.

    • Turmeric It is considered one of the best means for cleaning the digestive system from harmful microbes, because it complements milk to stop the fermentation processes. Such seasoning is not a mass product, but with a hangover as an additive to milk, it is recommended almost everywhere.
    • Honey, more common in our country, as an additive to milk is very useful because it is rich in fructose. The latter, in turn, has properties similar to those of tryptophan - it helps break down ethanol to the state of acetic acid.
    • Salted tomato juice It is not so much a supplement to milk as an additional or alternative hangover remedy. The abundance of salt provokes a diuretic effect and accelerates the elimination of toxins in the urine, while potassium, sodium and magnesium, along with vitamins A and C, allow the body to be restored as quickly as possible.

    Naturally, preference should be given to freshly squeezed or at least just homemade juice, while the store version may not contain much of what is described above.

    • Lemon juice with alcohol poisoning is also very useful, because this fluid as a whole helps to accelerate metabolic processes in the body. As a result, all systems work to update the composition of the stomach as soon as possible, which means that toxins will be released faster.
    • Fruits and vegetables In general, they are usually also recommended - provided that there are no contraindications to their use. If it is a sweet product, then it probably has fructose, the benefits of which have already been mentioned, but even non-sweet foods usually have a high vitamin content. Such an addition to milk does not always remove toxins faster, but it replenishes the supply of nutrients.
