Nuances of keeping cow's milk in the freezer

Cow's milk is a delicious, healthy product, a healthy diet.It contains many vitamins and trace elements necessary for the human body for proper metabolism and normal functioning. But this product is perishable, and although you can make a lot of useful and tasty dairy products from it, sometimes the question arises as to how to keep it longer.

Does the product lose its properties?

We are not talking about store milk, which can be bought every day and which is often recovered from a dry product, devoid of many useful properties, and low fat content.

The whole range of useful properties has homemade cow's milk. It is a dietary product suitable for baby food. In some cases, prepared cow's milk is replaced with breast milk. Expectant mothers and young children are recommended to use the product every day, as it is a good source of readily absorbable calcium, which is necessary for the formation of the skeleton and bone tissue of the teeth.

Unfortunately, not all people can use this wonderful product. In some cases, it will cause harm.

    • There is a category of the population, especially in old age, whose body does not absorb lactose. In such cases, it is recommended to use dairy products for food.
    • In some people, milk, especially in combination with some products, provokes upset stomach.
    • Casein milk protein can create another problem; it is a strong allergen. If someone has an allergic reaction, then all dairy products are contraindicated.
    • Individual intolerance to the product.

For all others, the benefits will be obvious. Everyone is aware of the fact that milk is released to workers in hazardous industries.

    • It has a good effect on the state of the stomach, especially if there is increased acidity. It helps the cardiovascular system to work better, helps the heart muscle to function normally.
    • Milk helps to strengthen the nervous system. If you drink it in the morning, it will provide the body with nutrients and energy, provide vigor.
    • It is advised to drink it with weakened vision.
    • Many people drink warm milk before bedtime, sometimes with the addition of honey - the product helps to quickly fall asleep and good healthy sleep.
    • There is a recommendation of doctors to give such a product to colds and weakened children - it enhances immunity, speeds up recovery.
    • Milk will be useful for those who want to lose weight. It nourishes the body with vitamins and trace elements, easily digestible proteins, suppressing the feeling of hunger and speeding up the metabolism. In this case, the caloric content of the product is only 55-65 kcal per 100 g, depending on the fat content.
    • Milk is widely used in cosmetology. Creams are made on the basis of milk proteins, it is often used for homemade cosmetic masks. Milk is useful for washing, especially for dry skin. If the product is frozen in small tins, you will have an excellent tool for morning face refreshment, narrowing of the pores, softening, whitening and nourishing the skin.

For city dwellers who cannot buy homemade milk every day and buy it in large quantities in the village, there is a way to store it for a long time with the help of freezing. With this method of storage milk will not lose its nutritional value.

If it is properly frozen and defrosted, it will continue to bring both benefit and harm to individuals.

    Freezing Features

In order for the milk to retain its taste and nutritional properties, it is necessary to take into account certain nuances when freezing.

For storage, milk is poured into clean, dry plastic bottles or strong plastic bags. It is even preferable to freeze in a package: it is more convenient to put frozen packages in the freezer, they will take up less space. It is not necessary to choose too large containers in order not to defrost an excessive amount of the product, since repeated freezing can damage it, negating all its healthy and taste qualities.

Freeze a certain amount in small molds or special ice packs - they can then be used not only for the face, but also used as an additive in tea or coffee.

Do not fill bags or bottles to the top: when turning into ice, milk will increase in volume and may ruin the container, despite the elasticity of plastic and polyethylene. For the same reason, do not use glassware. In extreme cases, use cans with a wide neck. Glass bottles with a narrow throat uniquely burst.

It is better to freeze at a temperature of -20 ... 25 ° C. At a higher temperature, the process will take longer, and this will affect the amount of vitamins and trace elements - it will decrease. At lower temperatures, the vitamins will be destroyed, the usefulness of milk will decrease.

Frozen milk can be stored in the freezer for up to two months. With this period, when defrosting milk will return almost all of its properties. You can store longer - the period may be six months or more. But the longer the product is stored, the less useful properties will remain, although the product will remain edible after thawing.

For freezing, you can take both raw and boiled milk. Boiled must necessarily cool before it is placed in the freezer. Boiling increases the shelf life of the product.

Raw homemade milk must be boiled if you are going to give it to young children. Boiling detrimental effect on harmful microbes and bacteria, but also significantly reduces the content of nutrients and proteins, especially vitamin C - it collapses at high temperatures. The absorption of calcium and phosphorus from boiled milk becomes more difficult for the body, as the process changes their shape.

    Defrosting

With proper defrosting, homemade milk will return its taste and appearance. If you decide to experiment with store milk, after thawing, it will most likely exfoliate.

    • It is best to defrost gradually. Remove the bag or bottle from the freezer and place in the refrigerator for several hours. Then you can defrost milk at room temperature.
    • The procedure can be somewhat accelerated by immediately placing the bag at room temperature.
    • If you defrost with water, the process will go faster. At first the package is immersed in cold water, then it is replaced with warmer one.
    • The fastest milk can be defrosted in the microwave, but this method will affect the taste of the product.

After thawing the milk can be immediately used as food and for cooking. Boiling it is not necessary, unless it is intended for a small child.

Since thawed milk retains the properties of a fresh product, people who have contraindications should refrain from its use.

If you have not consumed all the thawed milk, do not freeze it again, just put it in the fridge - it will not spoil in a couple of days.
