Description of the variety and features of growing strawberries "Bereginya"
Strawberries are popular with many people, and the great advantage is that they can be obtained in their personal plots.It is a very tasty and well-bought berry. But care requires very difficult. Beginning gardeners and experienced gardeners want a variety to be bred that would not be prone to many negative phenomena, and the plant did not need to be sprayed with various chemicals, more than once a year.
History of creation
The recently obtained variety Bereginya meets these requirements. This variety was bred by a group of breeders in Bryansk. Its ancestors are the notorious "Nightingale", which is resistant to frost and winter thaws, many diseases and pests, as well as "Induk". It is also famous for all the listed features, and besides it gives huge harvests. Six years ago, Bereginya was recorded in the register of selection achievements. "Bereginya" combined in itself all the properties of its predecessors:
- unpretentious care;
- quite large berries;
- good yields.
With these qualities, it causes incessant interest among both ordinary gardeners and professional gardeners. At first it was distributed in the center of the country, but now it is grown almost everywhere from the Krasnodar Territory to the Bryansk Region, in the conditions of Siberia and the Urals.
Characteristic
The description of this mid-end variety comes down to several characteristics.
- He gives fruit once a summer. It blooms and matures very late. Berries are formed in the middle of the summer period.
- Bushes are not big and not small with thick spreading leaves up to ten pieces. Mustaches are formed in large quantities. They are light red in color. Therefore, difficulties with this species, if it needs to be propagated, will not arise.
- Leaves with cloves are medium in size, light green in color. There is a weak down on them. Cloves wide, rounded at the ends. The petioles are neither big nor small, and there is more gun on them than on leaves. Lean stalks are long, rather wide, of a green shade.
- Peduncles of medium thickness and densely pubescent, are flush with the leaves.
- The flowers are medium, white, both sexes. Pretty tiny inflorescence consists of several flowers.
The peculiarity of this type of strawberry is that it has a high yield. Up to 0.5 kg of berries can be harvested from one bush. The following year, she can give even more fruit from one bush. According to gardeners, up to 30 tons of strawberries can be harvested per hectare. All growing parameters depend on weather fluctuations and growing environment. An interesting fact is that strawberry “Bereginya” does not become small as it ripens.
Strawberries are very resistant to frosts and can withstand not only cold winter periods, but also warming in the middle of winter. This variety has a very high resistance to dry time and heat. The variety is distinguished by its immunity to various diseases, fungi, as well as the withering and attack of a strawberry tick. If the summer is very rainy and the humidity is very high, strawberries can be affected by gray rot. Therefore, it is recommended to plant it in the southern parts of the country, where this type of berry disease is not common. In all other areas when planting you need to observe the distance between the bushes, so that the bushes are ventilated. It is also a good idea to apply the mulching procedure, for which dry hay is used.
The appearance of berries
The berries of this culture have distinctive features:
- the shape of the fruit resembles a cone with a rounded tip;
- berries of medium size, weight up to 15 g, and with proper care, the weight of one fruit can reach 26 g;
- the color of the fruit is red, it goes to red, the surface has shine;
- the flesh is red, very juicy, with a dense texture;
- the strawberry tastes sweet and sour, smells like garden strawberries.
The berries are very well and stored for a long time, they can be transported over long distances. Strawberries can be eaten fresh and can be made from various preparations for the winter period.Although the berries are sweet, but they do not contain sugar at all, and therefore they can be eaten by people with diabetes. Berries ripen at the end of June.
Advantages and disadvantages
Favorable parties include:
- excellent taste, which is well combined with commercial properties;
- fairly large size of the berries, which remains unchanged during the entire period of fruiting;
- large yields;
- increased resistance to frost and long cold winter periods;
- very strong resistance to diseases and insects that harm strawberries.
There is only one negative property: a gray rot lesion if humidity is too high.
Selection of seedlings
Before the strawberries are planted on the plot, need to carefully approach the selection of planting material.
- A bush should have at least three leaves. They should not be lethargic, but should be fresh and shiny.
- The root neck should not have extrinsic stains and signs of rot.
- The horn must be at least 8 mm in size, then the crop will be greater.
- If the roots of the seedling are open, they must be at least 7 cm.
Plants with pale leaves should not be taken. This may be a sign of phytophthora. And if the bush has twisted leaves, then this indicates a tick infestation. You need to buy material for planting in specialized nurseries that have the appropriate license. And you can also buy from reliable and proven vendors who have been engaged in plants for a long time and have earned a good name.
Choice of place
The amount of the harvest depends on the right place. Strawberry grows well in sloping areas, prefers the south-western slopes. Requirements to the ground, it does not impose. But most of all he prefers chernozems and gray forest soils of light composition. The yield will be worse if you plant strawberries on loam and sandstone. On sod substrates, it grows poorly. The place where the crop will grow should be predominantly dry, and the groundwater should not be located close to the surface.
The strawberry view is very fond of sunlight, so the place should not be shaded. At one place strawberries can grow no more than five years, and then it needs to be transplanted to another place. When planting Bereginya variety, follow the rules of crop rotation.
Good are the soils on which they grew legumes, radishes and greens. After potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, the soil is unsuitable for planting strawberries: this can reduce yields. It is not necessary to plant the bushes of this plant next to trees with strongly developed roots.
Planting time and care
You can plant strawberries in autumn and spring. Many gardeners prefer to plant in spring. The procedure should be carried out in late April, early May, when severe frosts can no longer be. Shrubs are planted in prepared holes, which should be located at a distance of 20 cm from each other. Care includes timely watering, loosening, to give air flow to the roots. Top dressing bring right after landing.
About this variety of strawberry gardeners leave mostly positive reviews.
