What is the difference between strawberries and strawberries?

Both strawberries and strawberries are deservedly used by the love of the people of Russia, who very often do not even realize that they confuse 2 types of these delicious berries. But for both novice gardeners and professionals, it is very important to know the main differences, because only that particular culture can provide adequate conditions for growth and care. In addition, strawberries and strawberries require radically different conditions necessary for planting, breaking which you can forget about a bountiful harvest.

Strawberries and strawberries belong to the genus Strawberry and to the Rosaceae family. The most common representative of this genus is the wild strawberry, which is usually found in the forest. However, what is usually called strawberries grown in vegetable gardens, or Victoria, is also strawberry, only garden. The true strawberry is actually considered strawberry nutmeg, where the adjective “nutmeg” characterizes the bright smell of fruit.

The word "strawberry" was coined because the berries looked like small balls. Wild nutmeg strawberries still appear in Russia, in Ukraine and in several other countries, but they are not specially grown.

Strawberry, and more correctly, nutmeg strawberry, differs from garden strawberry in appearance. For example, ripe strawberry berries look much brighter - its shade can be almost scarlet or even purple, while the color of ripe strawberries varies from the usual red to dark brown. By the way, real strawberries rarely have a uniform color, since from the southern barrel their color is brighter.

There is a clear difference in comparison of bushes - strawberry bush reaches a height of 20 to 25 centimeters and consists of a cluster of stems in the center and several side leaves, and the height of a strawberry bush varies from 25 to 32 centimeters, sometimes up to 40 centimeters. Although the leaves are also placed on the side, but the center, as a rule, form a mustache, used for propagation of the culture.

Of course, the fruits of nutmeg strawberries are much smaller in size. One elongated berry reaches in length from 0.5 to 2 centimeters, while garden strawberries are in the range from 2 to 4 centimeters, and some varieties and from 2 to 7 centimeters. The cut strawberry berry will be red, and the strawberry berry - with white patches and the so-called stem. Sunflower seeds in both cases are formed outside the fruit.

These items will not confuse such cultures. This strawberry has berries and leaves, smelling musk. Sheets are always large, most often light green with corrugated edges, and peduncles above them. The berries themselves never look down. On the contrary, leaves of garden strawberry are painted in dark green color and stand out with jagged edges, and their size varies from medium to large. The smell of the bushes and the berries themselves are fragrant and non-repulsive. The harvest of garden strawberries is always more abundant than that of muscat strawberries.

It is important to mention that strawberry flowers are always same-sex, while strawberries also have bisexual flowers. This means that the strawberry is capable of self-pollination, and for the reproduction of strawberries will require insects that carry pollen. The nutmeg has female and male specimens. Male form only flowers with stamens and can not produce fruit.

Female flowers are characterized exclusively by pistils, and berries are knotted when pollen falls on them. In strawberries, the flower has 5 sepals, 5 petals of corolla, and a large number of pistils and stamens.Thus, they can pollinate themselves and, as a result, set fruit.

The size of the berries in garden strawberries is much larger than that of nutmeg, but the mustache of the latter is much smaller. Some male strawberry samples are completely devoid of them. It is impossible to make an unequivocal choice, which berry is better: strawberries, garden strawberries or, for example, wild strawberries. But, after a careful comparison, experts made several important observations that can help choose the most successful variety. For example, garden strawberries will bear more fruit than strawberries, and have the best smell. But the taste of the berries themselves promises to be sweeter just the same as in the case of strawberries, because strawberries often have a sour aftertaste.

In size, garden strawberries beat strawberries, as well as significantly outperform other strawberry varieties. It is important to add that usually strawberries are not afraid of low temperatures, which cannot be said about strawberries. However, it is extremely poorly tolerated transportation, which excludes the possibility of growing for sale. As for the scope of application, it is approximately the same for all types of berries.

In addition, strawberry yields are not outstanding, and often it is simply unprofitable to plant it. This explains why this culture is most often chosen for decorative purposes. Garden strawberry usually pleases with abundant fruiting and quietly exists in the same place for several years.

The composition is equally useful in strawberries and strawberries. Vitamins and other beneficial substances contained in the berries are approximately the same: vitamin A, vitamin B, vitamin E, vitamin C, vitamin PP and biotin. This culture is not bad fruiting, is not afraid of low temperatures and pleases gardeners with unusual fruits that have a bright purple color and a pleasant aroma.

The care of both cultures is similar, although, of course, there are differences, it all depends on the variety selected. Water the plants to be 2 times a week defended in the sun with water. Irrigation should be regular, but not excessive. It is also important to mention that the younger the plant, the more moisture they need, and when the flowering and fruiting process begins, its amount decreases.
