Every avid gardener in his summer cottage must have fruit trees that he grew on his own. This variety can really be called fabulous, because it can safely develop and bear fruit in almost any conditions. However, he is not afraid of many diseases and pests, which greatly simplifies the care and provides high quality fruit.
Variety description
The “Fairytale” pear was created by breeders at the South Ural Scientific Institute, which specializes in fruit and vegetable crops. The “Parents” of this fruit are “Hanging” and “Tenderness” varieties, and its authors are professional breeders V. I. Putianin, M. A. Mazunin and E. A. Falkenberg. For its reproduction were used seeds of the Ussuri pear tree. This plant was derived for the harsh Siberian climate.
“Fairy-tale” pear is a summer variety, which begins to bear fruit already on the 2-3rd year after planting. The first harvest is small, about 3 kg, but every year it will increase.
To increase the volume of the crop, pollinators are often used, the best of which are pear varieties such as “Rainbow”, “Krasulia” and “Severyanka”.
Fruits of this tree are not only tasty, but also useful, they are enriched with vitamins and trace elements. Iron is present in the composition of the pear, which contributes to the development of blood cells and strengthens blood vessels. Fiber improves metabolic processes and helps get rid of toxins and extra pounds.
Pear “Fairytale” can be used not only raw, but also cooked compotes from it, harvest dried fruits and make stuffing for pies. Specifications
A pear of this variety belongs to tall trees, as it reaches 4 meters in height. The trunk and skeletal stems are colored brown, and the shoots are dark maroon. Crohn thick, rather narrow, has the appearance of a pyramid. The branches are straight, sprawling, close to each other. With the discharge from the trunk they form a right angle, while the ends are pulled up.
The shoots of the tree are long, straight and without pubescence. They are located a lot of large lentils. Buds are small, round, smooth, slightly bent. Pear leaves are also small, oblong, with a pointed end, large notches on the edges and dark green color. The leaf plate has no pubescence; it is flat, smooth and shiny. Broad, elongated scapes without omissions, and stipules - elongated and small.
Fruits reach an average size and weigh 180-200 g, but if you give the tree good care and regular feeding, then not only the yield will increase, but also the size of the pears themselves. Their maximum weight can reach 250 g. Stable high yield is reached on the 4-5th year of plant growth. From one tree it is possible to collect up to 10 kg of pears.
The fruits have the following characteristics:
- the skin is smooth and hard, so it is usually cut and eaten only pulp;
- at the time of harvest, their surface is usually painted in an emerald hue, but after full ripening it becomes amber, sometimes with a slight blush;
- a large number of subcutaneous points - they are wide, clearly defined and painted gray;
- pear stems are thick, long, with a bend;
- the fruit has a small, narrow funnel of a light orange color;
- calyx closed, non-falling;
- closed chambers for seeds;
- the heart is in the shape of an onion and small in size;
- brown seeds, large, pitcher-shaped;
- the pulp of the fruit is painted white, the consistency is tender, fine-grained, the fruit with abundant juicing;
- fruits are sweet, with spicy notes.
Harvest from adult trees is usually the end of August. It should be noted that the fruits are quite firmly held on the branches and are not prone to shedding.
The only drawback of this type of pear is a short shelf life - 10 days, after which, even under ideal conditions, the fruit pulp begins to darken.
Landing methods
Pear "fantastic" resistant to frost and drought. In addition, it has restorative abilities, therefore, even after a negative external influence, the tree does not die, but continues to develop and bear fruit. Also of note is the high resistance of this variety to diseases and pests. The plant does not require special care and will grow well even under not very favorable conditions.
Planting pears "Fantastic" perform two methods: seed and seedlings. The first method is more laborious and time consuming. Moreover, in such cases, the plant may lose some properties of the mother tree. Before planting, the seeds must be properly prepared, namely: put them in the refrigerator for 14 days, wrapped in a wet cloth. This material preparation procedure is called “stratification”. It helps speed up the process of seed germination.
Planting the finished material in open ground occurs in mid-autumn. For this purpose, a hole is dug under each seed, fertilizers are applied and watered after instillation. You can use as store fertilizers, and home humus.
Vegetative way of planting pears "Fabulous" is the most effective and simple. That's just need to choose the right seedlings.
